Finance Assistant (National) – Aden, Yemen

About the role

The Finance Assistant will support the finance team and country operations in Aden, Yemen, ensuring smooth day‑to‑day accounting and compliance with donor regulations and Geneva Call’s finance policies. Working under the Head of Support, the role involves handling cash, maintaining financial records and providing operational continuity for the finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Manage cash operations and payments, including processing collections, field travel payments, cheque preparation, petty‑cash handling, regular cash counts and reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate financial documentation by recording all cash, petty‑cash and bank transactions, safeguarding vouchers, filing, stamping and uploading monthly records.
• Support financial administration and reporting, monitor staff advances, prepare finance‑related correspondence and assist in the preparation of financial reports.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and procedures, verify documentation accuracy, carry out reconciliations and uphold security of cash and records.
• Provide operational continuity by covering the Finance Officer’s duties during absences and performing essential finance functions.

Required profile

• Yemeni citizen or holder of a valid work permit for Yemen.
• Experience in finance or accounting functions, preferably in an NGO or humanitarian context.
• Attention to detail and ability to work accurately with cash and financial records.
• Good organizational skills and ability to collaborate with finance and support teams.
