Emergency Specialist – Fixed Term (Level 3) – Aden, Yemen

About the role

Under the supervision of the senior emergency manager, you will lead the design and implementation of emergency preparedness and response activities for UNICEF in Yemen. The role focuses on safeguarding the survival and well‑being of children, mothers and affected communities during crises.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and coordinate emergency preparedness plans for the country office.
• Lead rapid emergency response operations, ensuring timely delivery of life‑saving assistance.
• Design, implement and monitor emergency projects, tracking progress against objectives.
• Maintain emergency information systems, analyse data and produce situation reports for decision‑makers.
• Track resources and expenditures to ensure efficient use of funds.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in social sciences, public administration, international law, public health, nutrition, international relations, business administration or related fields.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in programme/project development, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation at national or international level.
• Fluency in English and Arabic.

Required skills

• Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with government authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, donors and other partners.
• Experience maintaining emergency information systems and conducting data analysis.
• Strong communication skills for technical guidance, humanitarian appeals, reporting and media engagement.
