Country Director Yemen

About the role

The Country Director Yemen will provide inspiring leadership for ZOA’s country office, overseeing strategy, programmes, people and resources to deliver life‑saving and resilience‑building interventions across Yemen’s most complex humanitarian environments.

Key responsibilities

• Hold final responsibility for overall management and legal representation of ZOA in Yemen.
• Develop and implement ZOA Yemen’s Strategic Plan and Country Annual Plan aligned with global strategy.
• Lead and supervise the Country Management Team, fostering a values‑driven culture.
• Ensure programme quality, results and impact with strong attention to gender, diversity and inclusion.
• Oversee the full programme cycle from design and fundraising to implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with donors, local authorities, partners and other stakeholders.
• Position ZOA as a reliable partner in Yemen.
• Manage human resources, finance, administration and compliance, ensuring transparent and accountable operations.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in humanitarian or development contexts, preferably in conflict‑affected settings.
• Deep understanding of Yemen’s political and operational environment, including work with both De‑facto Authorities and the Internationally Recognized Government.
• Strong strategic thinking and ability to translate global objectives into country‑specific plans.
• Excellent stakeholder management and fundraising capabilities.
• Commitment to gender equality, diversity and inclusion.
